At 17 years old DJ Bomshell Boogie took up the art of turntableism as a hobby with aspirations of becoming a battle DJ in competitions. The fascination was just a hobby which then led to her residency at the New Orleans French Quarter favorite The Dragons Den. This spot became a popular spot where she blended an eclectic mix of underground rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, House Music, Pop and Neo-Soul. At that spot she created a myriad mix of people, music and social classes, that were all united to hear great music. It was from the popularity of this “underground” spot that she was sought after as the primary DJ for the more trendy clubs and parties that were bubbling in the crescent city. She has djed countless celebrity parties for people such as R.Kelly, Trey Songz, Shaquille O’neal, Young Money, Kandi Burass, Na’tee as well as Trombone Shorty and she has also has opened up for Keyshia Cole for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2008 and Fantasia in 2011.
In 2008, Bomshell traveled as a Cultural Influencer with KOOL cigarettes djing in different cities across the US. After returning home Bomshell became the first female mixshow DJ ever in the market of New Orleans and held down the afternoon drive show called “Power Mix at 5pm with DJ Bomshell Boogie” It was from there she gained the moniker “Miss New Ish” while gaining a reputation for being the first to break the hottest songs in the market.
From the growing popularity of the mixshow and landing the hottest interviews she then went on to host a “syndicated style” show called THE TEA with Bomshell Boogie. The show gained immediate success with celebrity interviews that not only was posted on her blog but gained features on other websites such as Worldstar Hip-Hop, The YBF, and other popular blog sites. All the radio success was paired with the club life success which increased her fan base. Bomshell Boogie was then featured in Hip Hop Weekly as 1 of the top 10 DJs in New Orleans, as well as the DJ Issue of OZONE MAGAZINE. Bomshell’s trendy fashion style also has gained her pictures in Essence Magazine as well as Vibe Magazine.
Bomshell left KKND Power 102.9 and became the first Female Mixshow DJ in the Baton Rouge market at WTQI Power 94.9 which is where she spins the hottest music in the 4pm Spin Cycle Mixshow M-F.
